DETAILED STRUCTURAL DESIGN FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A DATA CENTER ON BEHALF OF A PRIVATE COMPANY IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF MELEGNANO (MILAN)

The project involved the structural design of a Data Center, consisting of a mixed structural system combining reinforced concrete, precast concrete elements and structural steelwork.

The main building, approximately 88 × 76 m, extends over two above-ground floors, reaching an overall height of about 13 m, in addition to the steel structures located at roof level to support the mechanical and electrical equipment.

The foundation system consists of a reinforced concrete raft foundation with variable thickness, supported by 420 mm diameter FDP piles approximately 19 m long.

The structural design focused on the integration and interaction between the different construction systems. Precast elements and roof steelwork were also incorporated into the structural model in order to accurately assess the global and local actions transferred to the cast-in-place structures.
